  • To provide our students with the opportunity for social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.
  • To provide children with a rich variety of experiences, projects, materials, problems and ideas to explore and investigate.
  • To provide children with the opportunities to make meaningful choices, and time to explore through active involvement and play based learning.
  • To provide a developmentally appropriate program for each individual child by assessing the children’s unique learning and development needs.
  • To provide opportunities for all types of play and discussion in order for children to share their individual ideas, to communicate with one another and to explore their social and physical worlds.
  • To provide continuous, confidential, unbiased dialogue between the family and teachers to assist and support them when meeting the needs of their child.

Outcome

Through meaningful experiences, extended learning, risk taking, problem solving, play and social interactions with others, children will build a positive, confident self-identity and be set up for success as they prepare for their academic journey.

Our philosophy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and closely guided by BC's Early Learning Framework.

‍We see the environment as necessary for learning through play and exploration. We plan meaningful provocations to inspire curiosity, creative thinking, and connection to the world and each other. As children play, their social emotional intelligence forms while they build relationships and learn to communicate. Language skills are developed, math and science are explored with hands-on processes, nature ties in as they learn with their senses, and creative arts and culture go hand in hand with all learning scenarios. Children are truly engaged and learning through holistic Whole Child Development.

Nutrition Program

Included in our Nutrition Program are two snacks served with a variety of fruits and vegetables (morning and afternoon) and a Chef’s Lunch. Snacks and meals follow Canada’s Food Guide for healthy eating. We truly wish everyone to be a part of this experience and communal learning process.

This program also allows you (the parents) to spend less time shopping and preparing lunches and snacks and worrying that they’re not getting enough nutrition at school, and more time enjoying your valuable family time! We will worry about the rest in addition to setting the foundation for life-long healthy habits.

Our proven methods have demonstrated the effectiveness of children eating the same meals as their peers. Meals are served Family-style, or “self-serve” to help promote autonomy, independence, and self-help skills. The nutritional program is about so much more than just the food, it is its own learning and bonding experience. Sharing the same meal family-style fosters community and teachers can guide healthy eating habits. ECE’s use their education and experience to create processes that promote health and nutrition. For example, connecting literacy and learning to the food that they are serving. Our methods show that children are more likely to try new foods, eat more variety, and make healthy choices in this environment. Peers notice that they are sharing and eating similar foods and this builds connections between them and allows for commonalities and communication. Educators also share in the Family Style meal and model healthy eating habits.
